Focus

Focus is a city of blinding white stone, situated in the center of a vast, empty salt flat. There are no distractions here: no billboards, no music, no unnecessary ornamentation. The streets are laid out in a perfect grid, and the buildings are simple cubes with single windows. The inhabitants wear monochrome robes and walk with a deliberate, rhythmic pace. They do not multitask; if a man is eating an apple, he does nothing but eat the apple, savoring its existence with a terrifying intensity.

The air in Focus is thin and sharp, clearing the mind of fog. Visitors often find the silence oppressive, for they are forced to confront the noise of their own thoughts. The citizens preach a religion of subtraction, believing that the self is a statue hidden inside a block of marble, revealed only by chipping away the non-essential. They trade in hours of deep work, exchanging a morning of uninterrupted thought for a single, perfect idea. Focus exists to show that the universe is not infinite, but rather composed of one thing, done well.
